Located just 80 miles northwest of Portland, Seaside is a beautifully serene
beach town — perfect for a quiet getaway. Explore Oregon's coast and all of its
natural beauty.
Take a stroll along the miles of public beach that border the town. When it's
warm, spend your days splashing in the Pacific Ocean or maybe even try your hand
at surfing. If you're feeling really adventurous, rent a paddleboard or kayak
and test your skills while you breathe in the deliciously salty ocean air. If
you'd prefer a more relaxing beach experience, lounge in the sun with a good
book or pack the makings for s'mores and build a bonfire at sunset.
Explore the historic Seaside Promenade, known by locals as "The Prom," a
one-and-a-half mile oceanfront boardwalk built in the 1920s and the perfect spot
for a morning jog or bike ride. While you're exploring the shops and restaurants
settled along The Prom, make sure to pop into the Seaside Aquarium. Founded in
1937, this aquarium is one of the oldest on the West Coast. They've got tanks
that allow you to touch sea anemones, starfish and urchins, plus the aquarium is
home to 11 playful seals — who let you feed them treats in exchange for seeing
their self-taught tricks.
If you're a seafood lover there are plenty of opportunities in Seaside to catch
your own dinner. Roll up your slacks and dig for razor clams in the sand or grab
your rod and reel and catch some beautiful, fresh salmon. If you'd prefer a less
hands-on approach, head to one of the town's many restaurants or markets to
purchase the day's freshest catch.
With four area golf courses and beautiful coastal scenery, Seaside is a great
place to get in a few rounds while on vacation. Spend the day amid seagrass and
open skies as you unwind on the fairways.
